AS SSD Benchmark Results

Website: AS SSD

AS SSD is a freeware benchmarking tool designed just for SSDs, performing a battery of sequential read and write, as well as random read and write tests and sequential access times over a 3GB portion of the drive. As Windows 7's caching technology makes using more real world based tests like FC-Test almost impossible, this is the next best thing for judging sequential read and write speeds, as well as producing accurate access times and being wonderfully easy to use.

AS SSD also includes a a sub-suite of copy benchmarks with various different file patterns, but we found this was unable to offer reproducable results. We've also not included the 4K random read/write and 4k-64 Thread random read/write figures, as we feel Iometer is fairer representation of random performance.

TRIM is essential for an SSD to maintain its performance. To test whether a drive supports TRIM well or not, we fill and empty each drive mercilessly, writing and then deleting over 500GB of data before emptying the Recycle Bin to trigger the TRIM command. we waited five minutes for each drive to clear its decks. If the drive supports TRIM perfectly, there should be no performance drop-off shown in the lighter tone bars.
